Walking with Malvern Hills District Footpath Society

Walks coming up

Where to meet

Each walk will have a starting point:

  • If a walk is around Malvern itself, we will usually meet at the walk’s start point.
  • If a walk is further afield, we sometimes meet at Imperial Road and arrange car shares/lifts there.

Meeting at Imperial Road

If it is clearly indicated in a walk description that the starting point includes Imperial Road, this refers to the junction of Imperial Road/Avenue Road. Check with the walk leader beforehand whether this will be the case.

If you are going to Imperial Road and will require a lift to the walk starting point, we suggest that, where possible, arrangements are made with a car driver in advance. Hopefully, this will make it more likely that there can be a seat available for you; but of course, this cannot be guaranteed. Please remember to offer your driver 10p per mile when being given a lift e.g. a walk that starts 15 miles from Imperial Road = 30 miles round journey @ 10p per mile = £3.00 to pay.

If you have any uncertainty as to whether a walk will go ahead, e.g. because of the weather forecast, please check with the leader. Walks may be cancelled upon discussion at the initial meeting point, if this exists. You go straight to the start at your own risk!

Walk Guidance

To make sure our walks are enjoyed by all, we provide guidance on walking in a group. Please click the button below to read it.

Try us out

You don’t have to be a member, you are welcome to join us on any of our walks, but we encourage you to join the Society after coming on two or three walks. To join only costs £5 a year, so it is very good value.

Look at our Walks Calendar and decide on the walk that you would like to try out. Fill in the form on the calendar page so that we can put you in touch with the walk leader.

When you get to the meeting point, please announce yourself to any walkers and they will introduce you to the walk leader.

Don’t forget to take suitable footwear and clothing. Walks usually include a 20 minute coffee stop so packing a snack and drink may be a good idea. For longer walks, bring a packed lunch in addition.

Could you lead a walk?

Walks leaders are always in great demand. The Society is grateful to anyone who is willing to lead walks either regularly, just now and then or even as a one-off. We have a number of experienced walk leaders who would be more than willing to give support to newcomers.
